I would think she is actually quite a powerful, deliberate person. I wouldn't think she was timid, but actually an alpha beneath the surface as she seems to know what she is doing. If people cannot read your actions It can be an intimidating and threatening stance to them. If you said "thats the beauty of it all" it means you are in control of your shyness (even if you're not) so I would think that it would result in your colleagues respecting you.
